We are all unaware of the postural habits we've developed. In the workshop, we’ll consider the anatomy of the spine, the function of yoga asanas and breathing and learn how we can use these intelligently to cultivate appropriate strength and flexibility.

We will practice mindful asana exercises which will help you to develop body awareness, reveal any unhelpful postural and movement habits and then learn how to replace them with constructive habits.

You will leave the workshop with a number of simple asanas that you can practice at home and, with regular practice, you will see the benefit in improved function and relief from aches and pains as you develop strength and mobility.

  • La Gomera, The Canary Islands (Sometime in the future)
Come and join us for this our first yoga trip to the beautiful island of La Gomera! We will travel by ferry from Tenerife to La Gomera and with luck see dolphins on the way! Then by local boat to El Cabrito, a small cove where we will stay in a converted banana plantation. We will practice yoga twice daily and you will have plenty of free time for exploring the vicinity. La Gomera is one of the Canary islands located off the coast of Africa. It is an island of volcanic origin which rises to nearly 5000 feet at its highest point. Laurel rain forests grow on the slopes of deep ravines, and the upper regions of the forests are shrouded in clouds and mist, giving rise  to lush and diverse vegetation. They form the national park of Garajonay which is now a world heritage site. The slopes are covered in paths of varying levels of difficulty so you can hike their whatever your level of experience or fitness. The dense jungle climate in the central mountains  contrasts with the sunbaked cliffs nearer to sea level, and this provides an amazing range of microclimates.
El Cabrito is located in a large green valley right next to the sea with no road access and far away from package tourism. There is year round snorkelling and diving as well as the possibility to take to the sea and observe whales and dolphins.
We will eat delicious meals from produce cultivated right here , fresh and healthy to support our practice.
We will design a yoga practice based around who we have on the retreat, but for sure it will be therapeutic and nourishing, helping to support the deep peace and steadiness you will take from the environment.
